H-E-B has surpassed the 100,000-partner milestone, now making it the largest privately held employer in Texas. Currently, the San Antonio-based grocer employs more than 90,000 employees, which it refers to as “partners,” in 332 Texas stores, along with more than 10,000 in 56 stores across Mexico. This also makes it one of the largest privately held retailers nationwide.

“This milestone represents our deep commitment to improving the lives of Texans and their families, and creating a work environment that brings the spirit of community to life every day while encouraging innovation, engagement and success,” said Craig Boyan, H-E-B president and COO. “It takes great people to build a great company, and we look forward to providing even more Texans with meaningful career opportunities that bring new experiences, growth and lifelong connections at H-E-B.”

The company is also celebrating the anniversary of the Partner Stock Plan, an employee ownership plan that rewards the hard work, dedication and loyalty of H E B partners.
